Seussapalooza!

Instructor Beth Newman's Class Prototype
Little Artist's in Whitehall Farm Studio's recent Early Release Workshop cooked up some pretty fantastic Dr. Suess inspired characters and illustrations for our own Seussapalooza!

There's a wocket in my pocket!

In celebrating Dr. Seuss Day, we spent an afternoon immersed in the illustrated world of none other than Theodor Seuss Geisel (the 'Seuss' was originally pronounced as 'voice').  Each student was encouraged to create their own Dr. Seuss character in the spirit of Dr. Seuss himself.  We imagined our characters by rhyming a nonsense word to a real word- like 'a glower in my flower' or a 'schamp on my lamp.'  The students carefully conjured their one-of-kind creatures and imagined where these silly seusses might live!

Keeping in true Dr. Seuss style, we painted our illustrations in just three colors, a printing trademark of Seuss.  Detailed lines in black ink outlined our characters and their environments.

Some of our Finished Dr. Seuss-ish Illustrations:

'A Gly in the Ski' by Dylan
'A Fungle in the Jungle' by Anthony

'A Schmool in the Pool' by Madalyn
'A Mirathe in the Bath' by Mariana

'A Snorax on the Lorax' by Mia
'A Shice Leam in my Ice Cream!' by Ella, Age 4
'An Awesome Glosome' by Elizabeth
